Cincy Blues

We’ve already discussed the pathway for the Bengals to make the playoffs. In this post, we will look more at the likelihood of Cincinnati making the playoffs. They need to win, and a Jets and Broncos loss. First, can the Bengals win? I believe they will be able to beat the Steelers through pure offense. I think being sharp on defense will help, but the key to success will fall on Joe Burrow and the offense. Time to make up some numbers. I believe there is a 65% chance the Bengals win this game. Let’s move onto the next game. The Jets take on the Dolphins without their starting QB. They play at home, against a team fighting for their lives. I think there is a chance the Jets pull this one out. The Dolphins have struggled, Tua Tagovailoa is out with injury, and they just haven’t been able to find their stride. I don’t think this is the game they find it and I believe the Jets win here. Give it a 52% chance, (again, made up number.) Finally, we have the Broncos vs. the Chiefs. The Chiefs will be playing almost every backup they have. The Broncos need to win this game to advance. Because of their need to win and the Chiefs starters being out, this is where I believe the Bengals road will end. It’s not unlikely the Broncos lose; they’re playing an experienced veteran in Carson Wentz in the Chief’s scheme. Deandre Hopkins will be playing, so there’s some extra help for Wentz, and their defense is still 4th best in the league. Despite all this, I think this last bout between Denver and Kansas City will extinguish the flames of hope for Cincinnati.
